The nostalgia!! I’ve played soccer since I was 4 and though I was never good enough to go pro, I’ve never lost my love of the game。 Being a Canadian soccer fan specifically, Christine Sinclair basically lived in my living room through the most formative years of my life。 She, Kara Lang, Charmaine Hooper- they were my favourites, my heroes, but at that time there weren’t very many ways of letting them know just how important they were to this little girl in a mundane, suburban town。 This book rem The nostalgia!! I’ve played soccer since I was 4 and though I was never good enough to go pro, I’ve never lost my love of the game。 Being a Canadian soccer fan specifically, Christine Sinclair basically lived in my living room through the most formative years of my life。 She, Kara Lang, Charmaine Hooper- they were my favourites, my heroes, but at that time there weren’t very many ways of letting them know just how important they were to this little girl in a mundane, suburban town。 This book reminded me of moments that I aspired to be part of。In this book, I enjoyed learning more about Sinclair, her experiences, and the behind-the-scenes from tournaments I was glued to growing up and the most recent successes of our national team。 She’s been such an absolute power house, championing womens’ sport and leading by example。 I have so much respect and admiration for her。 In this book, she’s going to show you why。 I actually met Sincy once and I feel like I should really just take this moment to now apologize。 In this work, she discusses how uncomfortable she can sometimes feel in the public eye and I once ran into her on the street in Toronto。 I was gobsmacked。 I didn’t know what to say but I felt like I had to say something, just standing next to her I was nearly in tears。 But I can see how I added to that discomfort, and Christine, if you somehow ever do happen to come across this, I really am sorry for that。 I should have let you continue on your way to enjoy your Starbucks!Thank you so much to Penguin for my gifted ARC!! :) 。。。more
